Wrigley Field is not a Corporate Sponsored Ballpark

After speaking with several Chicagoians about the naming of the bleachers by Bud Light I had to post this.

Wrigley Field is not named after the Wrigley Gum Company. The company didn't pay for the naming rights like AT&T, or U.S. Celluar. It is in fact named to hornor William Wrigley Jr. (1861-1932) who did run the gum company, but also owned the Cubs.

Story of the Ballpark here.

The Cubs announced today that the newly renovated Wrigley Field bleachers will be officially named the "Bud Light bleachers."

"The Cubs are one of the most storied teams in baseball, with a tremendously loyal fan base and one of the greatest venues in all of sports. We're excited to offer this new feature – the Bud Light Bleachers – to Cubs fans," said Tony Ponturo, vice president, Global Media and Sports Marketing, Anheuser-Busch Inc. in a statement.

"The bleachers at Wrigley Field represent the ultimate fan experience in Major League Baseball. We are proud to have the prestigious Bud Light brand join us in this partnership as we enhance our fans' experience," said Cubs marketing guru John McDonough in a statement..

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

laziest person of the weekend award goes to me

my weekend consisted of laying on the couch, 007, downloading music and videos for the ipod, selling my old ipod for an astronomical price, xbox, sleeping, coffee, laundry, cleaning, muscle relaxers, steak, sleeping on the couch, more 007, internerd shopping, converting downloaded music and videos, internet porn, fruit salad, who can bang louder wars with the idiots upstairs and NASCAR.

sadly I did not do my taxes or go to the pet store. actually I didn't go further than the grill as far as outside goes (about 4 feet from the back door). my fish are hungry.

tomorrow I go to Cleveland, OH. not my favorite place. actually I loath Cleveland, OH.

I have heartburn all the time. and I mean all the time.

my phone looks like wood.

I hate trying to come up with a catchy title all the time.

Magnolia Electric Company was good. We chose to sit in the bar watching NCAA games over seeing Destroyer. I donno, don't ask. We were also eating those chocolate bottles of booze by the handful at the end of the night. Again, don't ask and don't judge me.

It's funny that Barry Bonds is suing the book people over 'illegally obtained' grand jury transcripts and not that he never 'knowingly used steroids."

Here is a related story. Amusing.

My neighbors left their cat in the hallway last night, which freaked me the fuck out when I got home all drunk.

Fire Drills first thing in the morning when hung-over aren't so much fun. Pink Panther episodes on the new video ipod make them a little better.

3.23.2006

Show Time

Tonight is M.E.C. I am only kind of looking forward to this show. I like M.E.C. and all.. but I am tired. And old.

I am looking forward to seeing Destroyer open though.

If I wasn't so tired today maybe.

Not So Much

So all the hype about the Arctic Monkeys is a tad bit over rated. I saw them on Saturday and wasn't too impressed. I was reminded of the Slint show I saw last year around this time. The concert sounded just like the album. Exactly. The songs were not at all rocked out. Instead they were an exact cut out of how they sound on the album. Not one *new* song, or something that didn't make the album. I give the Arctic Monkeys a C+ as far as performance goes. Very Disappointed. I have a feeling that they are going to fall flat on their face once the hype dies down a bit and their second US tour will be a huge disaster.

I was way more impressed with The Heartless Bastards last Thursday night. That Erika Wennerstrom has a powerful voice and a stage presence. Her lyrics are meaningful. I recommend that you check them out.

Apparently my sister's childhood vacation memories are all from one trip.

Funniest quote heard this weekend is from my little sister. When asked what she thought of Concert Dad's beard she replied "I don't like it. Apparently just because he doesn't have anyone working for him anymore he thinks he can just let himself go..."

Andy Warhol is genius.

I want this.

3.17.2006

What I did on My day off

Today I am not at work.

Instead I am:
doing my laundry
converting some downloads and importing them into iTunes
looking for video's for my shiny new ipod
eating smoked ribs from Honey 1 BBQ
napping
watch some NCAA basketball

3.16.2006

I don't have a catchy title in mind.

I am back at work today. Of course its a mess. I gave instructions for 2 days of work, and 3 days to do it in. Guess how much got done.

Go ahead. Guess.

Tonight I am catching The Heartless Bastards over at The Empty Bottle. We are also supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow.

I just got one of those tickets by mail for a red light violation. Anyone know how to fight one of these? I'll probably just pay it.

The dead ipod is on its way back to Apple. I hope it hurry's back. I really miss it. I am still considering buying myself a brand new one, and maybe giving this one away.

edit: I just bought a new 30gig video ipod. I will be selling my 4th gen 40gig as soon as I get it back. Shoot me an email if your interested in it. $200 [obo] will get you the ipod, the power adapter, dock connector, rubber skin, usb(2) cable, iTrip and anything else I might have for it.

3.15.2006

Wrapping it Up

Sitting here at my parents house waiting some some laquer to dry. Got about another hour or so then I am heading home.

I actually miss my regular job.

Concert Dad looks good with a beard. I wonder where he got the idea?

The Cubs season is over once again before it even starts. I wonder which team I should pull for this year.

3.14.2006

Quickies

Taking vacation from one job to go work another is no longer making sense to me.

The guy on keyboards really filled out the sound of Sam Champion. The rest of the nght is kind of a haze.

My iPod died. Dead.

My 'other' key ring is missing.

I'm sore.

I'm missing a certain someone right now.

3.10.2006

OK, OK... the 4 of you win!

So lets be for real here for a second. I am not going to quit the stupid internet. I mean, where else am I going to get my free porn? Or free music?

I'll keep posting, but probably not nearly as much as I was. There will probably be more links to weird or interesting news articles that hopefully generate some discussion. The comments section is there; use it if you stop by here. Really.

The next few weeks, well the next month and a half really, are going to be real busy for me. I am finally going to a live rock-n-roll show tonight, the first of 5 I plan on attending this month. I can't wait! Tonight it is Sam Champion with special tour guest It's Matt on keys, supporting Apollo Sunshine and The Slip.

I have been asked by my boss to go to the following cities; Atlanta GA, Cleveland OH, Indianapolis IN, Ridgefield Park NJ, and Las Vegas NV. Some only for a day, others for 8 days.

Next week, I will not be at my real job so I can go finish this dumb cabinet job with Concert Dad. I made some serious cash money on this job, and have said I would consider doing more in the future. Maybe.

Until Next Time...

This is interesting

pic borrowed from somewhere

Blah Blah, who cares.

So I am still on the fence on weather or not I will keep posting, and for how long.

I really don't think that I ever put up anything worthwhile, and really.. How many people even read this anyway. I think I was up to 4 readers at one point. Sure, I get a few hits every day, mostly from people who read my Girlfriends blog.

Recent Developments in Concert Josh Land:

My co-worker did everything he could to get us in trouble. The Regional Director here will speak him to sometime today. I have had enough. He totally abuses the few privileges we have here.

I got for my Girlfriend a new TV, and a new painting. She totally loves both, and me.

Tomorrow is my FIRST LIVE ROCK CONCERT of 2006. I can't wait.

3.08.2006

Hummmmm

I am starting to wonder how much longer Concert Josh is going to be posting.

Actually, I think I may quit the internet all together.

this is funny.

Cool

I just a call from The Boss Man.

My trip to NJ has been 'postponed' until maybe next month if there is time. My trip downtown is schedualed for next Monday. I get 3 days off later this month, and I was just asked to keep my schedual open so I can go to Indy for The Final Four at the end of the month. Concert Dad is gonna be jealous.

I hope I can make it back home in time for someone's Birthday.

Still no word on which spell to use on this lens to make it work though.

Could it be true?

So I just heard a rumor that Mr. Durant will be joining Tugboat and the rest of Sam Champion on this tour.

Happy HAsh Wednesday.

Wednesday is also Hump Day.
