Happy Halloween Ya Bunch-A Freaks

Friday Night Man Show
Friday Tequila Red and I, along with Fredbeck and Sister of Fredbeck took in a Rhett Miller solo concert. Another great performance by Rhett. I skipped dinner in favor of Grey Goose Vodka Tonic's. I think we went out to a bar for an after show drink or two, but I'm not so sure about the details. Breakfast at noon the next morning was wonderful. A couple errands, and some cleaning/decorating and we were ready for another night of fun.

Saturday Night Fright Fest
There are a lot of things Tequila Red does well, one of which is throwing Killer Parties. This event thrown in conjunction with Crystal was no exception. I have only attended two of Tequila's parties, but both of them were a blast. This one lasted until about 4AM, and had a vast cast of attendee's. My own sister showed up dressed as "Granny". I talked to her for about 3 minutes before I figured out who she was. Gallons of booze, and a ton of food was consumed, and good times were had by all. Pictures from the shin-dig can be seen over at Tequila's page by clicking right here.

Sunday Afternoon Nonsense
After cleaning up Tequila's house, and breakfast I gathered my belongings and headed home to watch the 2nd half of the Bears Game. I also stopped at the store to grab the necessary ingredients for a meal I saw on a Channel 11 Cooking Show the afternoon before. I got home, flipped on the game and took up residence on my couch. Just as I got settled in, the Jackass Neighbor up-stairs started hammering something. The time was about 2:10PM or so. This hammering continued until about 7:30PM. That's right, over 5 hours of hammering. 5hrs. of hammering on the floor. 5hrs. of hammering on the floor right above me. I saw some boxes for shelving units on the trash this morning. After seeing the picture on the box, I am guessing a retarded blind monkey could get this thing together in an hour and a half, max. It took my Jackass Neighbor 5 hours. Tonight on my way home I am buying one of those air horn's that are usually used at large sporting events. I am going to blast it at 3AM right at the ceiling in the area below the bed.

Anyone have any other ideas on how to really annoy my Jackass Neighbor? Flattening the tires on his new BMW SUV is an idea I have been throwing around, but I am looking to make sure he knows it was me that did whatever it is.

Well, the Chicago Bears are all alone in first place in the NFC North. Hopefully the Bears can at least get into the playoffs to help erase people's memory of that Other Team winning some sort of award or something.

Road Trip

I haven't hit the road to a far away town for a concert in a while. Wednesday after work Tequila Red met me at my grandparents house and we headed up to Madison, WI for the solo Rhett Miller show. We stayed with her friend Paralegally Blonde, who was a Rhett virgin.

On the ride up to Mad-town we stopped at a newly improved Tollway Oasis on I-90. While I wasn't super impressed with the craptastic pizza I ate there, I was impressed with my Claw skillz. I spied the machine from across the room, and decided that I was going to try to get one of the fabulous prizes inside. After I ate most of my food, I strolled over to the machine and shoved a dollar in the slot. On my very first try I snagged a Chicago Bulls mini playground ball. Since it was $o.50 a try, I had one play left. I almost snagged a Chicago Bears ball on that try. Even though I missed on my second try I still walked away a winner. The rest of the car ride up was a blurr of road construction and semi's. Luckily I had a great passenger to help pass the time.

When we got into town, we went to PB's place and freshened up, then headed over to the venue. The venue was pretty nice, drinks were pretty cheap (college towns, gotta love 'em) and the no smoking indoor policy was awesome... although some people were seen smoking non-tobacco products through out the night. Tequila stood right up front for the performance of the very man pretty Rhett Miller. He is so man pretty I have a slight gay crush on him. We saw some friends that were extra's in the Old 97's concert scene with us over the summer, and a few of Red's 'front row posse'. During the show several people sent me text messages to let me know that the White Sox had swept the Astro's and won the World Series. BFD was my response to every one of them. I mean really, who cares about the Sox?

When we woke up in the morning, PB had already left for work. We hit Denny's for breakfast, and low and behold there was a Claw there too. Once again I shoved my dollar into the slot, and came away a winner. This time I won some sort of pumpkin-head stuffed thing. Whatever, it is kinda cute, in that it's so ugly it's cute sort of way. The rest of the day was spent driving home, and lounging around in a horizontal position. In the evening Tequila and I hit a few stores to get some supplies for her Halloween Party on Saturday. Be there or be square!

Tonight is another Rhett show. I need to get some feeder type fish for my tank.. otherwise I'm going to lose a few more Tetra's. Sunday I will be sitting in front of the TV watching the Bears take a firm grip of 1st place.

W. T. F.

So last night I stopped at Jewel for some dinner supplies. As I was heading with my cart full of crap to the check-out I paused in the Halloween isle. I saw a Pumpkin Candle that was marked down so I grabbed it as my only Halloween Decoration for the year. After drooling over some of the candy, I turned and continued on my way to the check-out. You wouldn't believe what the next isle was full of.

Christmas Decorations. That's right a whole entire freaking isle of Jewel is already full of glass ornimates, blinking lights, stockings, Santa Figures, Snowmen, the works. I almost puked right there. I mean, October isn't even over yet. What happened to waiting until Thanksgiving is over before you have to think about Christmas.

Fuck Christmas. I think I am going to boycott this year...

Untitled

The next few days in a nutshell:

Work until 5PM, and not a second more. Then I'm off to Mad-town (Madison, WI) for a concert. I haven't been to Mad-town since 2002. That was when I saw the best Widespread Panic concert I have been to, and I have been to 40+. Tonight I am going to see Rhett Miller of Old 97's fame.

I have all day tomorrow off. So does the Girlfriend. I wonder what we'll do. wink, wink!

Friday is back to work... then it is another Rhett concert here.

I stayed up until 1:30AM last night watching the stupid White Sox game.. hoping for them to lose so the chances of a Game 6 increased.. to no avail. Jerks.

edit:
I just realized that if the Sox win tonight, I'll be in Madison and unable to burn and loot with the rest of Chicago. Damn.

New Shoes

So I need to get new shoes. I need some 'winter' shoes for work and new casual shoes for everyday wear. What are you people wearing? Give me some suggestions, I hate shopping. I would rather go to the store with somethign in mind, if not a specific exact thing I need to get.

Thanks.

edit:
I don't get it. I've had a pretty good amount of traffic here today, yet only 1 person gave me some shoe ideas (thanks hon.. those are great!) Do you people not wear shoes? Are you scared of me? Come on, don't be shy.

Meet The Family II, My Turn

I got to meet my Girlfriends family this weekend. Well, her parents and her Brother's family anyway.

Tequila Dad likes to play golf. I can't hit a golf ball more than 10 feet, usually about an inch off the ground. His first question was "Do you play golf?"

I just can't play that game. Except on Xbox.. I rule that game. I will occasionaly watch a golf match, some of it anyway. I'll nap through most parts; I do the same thing NASCAR too. Turn it on, turn the volume down, and crash out for hours on the couch.

Tequila Dad's next question was "Did you see my car?" He has a sweet Mustang in the garage. I'm not sure what year it is, but it looks like a '65 or '66. He also has a BRAND NEW Mustang. He let me sit in it, and start it, and even rev the engine. I did NOT get to drive it.

The rest of the weekend was spent watching Notre Dame football, thrifting in the sticks (I bought a few 'farmer' shirts), family dinner at a restaurant with the worst waitress possible, catching seconds of the World Series, sometimes through stained glass, a visit to a home town bar complete with OK Cover Band and mall hair, sort of watching Pretty Woman, 2 crazy horses (by crazy I mean gay for each other) and a trip through Wal-Mart.

Traffic in the City of Chicago on a day the White Sox play game 2 of the World Series, and the Bears play at home and it rains all day REALLY SUCKS. (edit; I recently found out the Blackhawks also played a home game Sunday)

I also realized, way too late mind you, that I need to clean up at home. It is kinda nasty there, but I haven't really spent too much time there lately so what can anyone really expect? (Sorry girls)

I can't believe the White Sox won that game last night. I can only hope that Houston wins the next two games, otherwise there will be no game 6, and Concert Dad and I will make no money selling his tickets.

This weekend ended with the Bears still in 1st place, I figured out what I am going to be for Halloween, got VIP tickets to the upcoming Minus The Bear show, and a steak dinner.

All in all a great weekend.

This week includes me being way too busy for this blog during work hours, 2 Rhett Miller concerts; one in Wisconsin, a day off from this J-O-B, more World Series games, and who knows what else.

Stay tuned to find out!

More Random Blabbling by an Idiot

So tomorrow I am going to get in a car with Tequila Red and the two short people and head up to MI to her parents house. I haven't met a girls family since I was 21. I'm looking forward to this though, after everyone in my family met her last weekend. (well, not Concert Dad's side.. we'll save that for some other day as that is something not everyone can go through). I hope her family likes me as much as mine does her.. she left quite an impression on a lot of people.

quote from Concert Mom's Cousin Johnny to Concert Dad: "Josh sure does have his hands full with that one, she's real cute though!"

Tonight I am going back to my sister's to hook up her phone line. Apparently "We have everything you'll need" really means "We don't have a thing you'll need, so you need to go buy and bring all of that, whatever it is"

Check this site out.. yep, that's my girl.. #1.

The show was sold out last night, so we didn't go. Instead we went over to a bar for dinner, met up with some friends, drank a few beers and was home snuggled nicley in bed with Red before 11:30. I was woken up at 3 am by Red and told that I was snoring, and to shut it or sleep on the couch with the dreaded cat..

Speaking of the cat.. that gross little thing finally touched me last night. I got up in the middle of the night to use the washroom. That cat laid in wait for me to come out, knowing that I would be blind after switching the light off. I flicked the switch, opened the door, and walked slowly into the hall, when all of the sudden he was all over my feet. Ewwww, gross.

I hope all 3 of you who read this have a great weekend; I know one of you will.

Random blabbling for Thursday

my random thought for Thursday
I am a real big fan of this time of year. Some of the best times are had between now and the end of December. It usually isn't that cold, and with the holidays just around the corner everyone seems to be just a tad bit more upbeat. The actual stress of the holiday season hasn't really set in yet. That'll happen about an hour after Thanksgiving ends.

my random event
Tonight I am going with Tequila Red to see American Analog Set, with Chin Up Chin Up opening. Less than a year ago, Chin Up Chin Up suffered a loss. Here is a link to a story. There is something not told in that news story, something I had heard before but was told about again last night by the Rock Star. When the car that hit him swerved in his direction.. he shoved his girlfriend out of the way an instant before being hit. I would totally do the same thing.

trying to help
So last night I was over at my Sister's place. She doesn't have a land line hooked up at all.. her and her Boyfriend are both cellular. He needs DSL for some art project he is doing, so they ordered it. Neither one of them could hook up anything electronic to save babies, so I offered to stop by and hook them up. I was told that they had everything I would need, but of course they didn't. There is one piece that it totally key to the situation.. the phone jack. I made a list of the stuff I need, and I'll go back on Friday Night and hook her up right. Sounds like a Rockin' time.

Seems her retarded dog likes my Girlfriend, but still hates me. Well, maybe not hate, but it's totally unsure of how it feels about me. It's super into my Girlfriend though.

my baseball thoughts
I still can't believe that the World Series will be played in Chicago starting Saturday. Concert Dad has tickets to Game 6. I hope there is a Game 6, and I really hope he asks me to go with him. I kinda hope the Sox win. I wish the Cardinals won last night. I think the battle between LaRussa and Guillen, whom LaRussa managed back in 1985-1986 would have been awesome. I grew up on the South Side, and was a Sox fan up until 1993 the year I turned my back on the game until the day Kerry Wood struck out 20.

10.19.2005

Cold

I have a head cold. I feel like crap. I am super crazy busy at work. I am going to get some 'extra work' from my boss when Fed-Ex delivers today. I might as well move in here.

This weekend a bunch of people were supposed to head up to some cabin in Michigan for fun times. On Monday my Sister, the coordinator of this event, threw her back out. She is currently bed ridden and on a few different pills. The trip is postponed. Boo.

Her Rock Star Boyfriend and I were emailing about her condition, here is an excerpt:

"...she really fucked up her back. I had to come home from work to take her to the doctor. Non-stop tears--it totally sucked. What is important now is convincing your sister to get more vicodin from the Doc."

I'm going to go over and check on her tonight, and help them hook up their DSL.

I talked to Concert Dad last night. He took my 17 yr. Old sister to some college in St. Louis to check it out. It is a small, private college for real smart people... my sister should have no problem getting into that. She is SUCH a nerd. Anyway, somewhere in the conversation he mentioned my Girlfriend. He said he wished he would have gotten a little more time to talk to her, but after she spit beer all over him he couldn't even get close. Every time he even looked at her she lost it. Things are going to be real interesting when they meet again.

I got a phone call last night from on old friend. I knew exactly what he wanted when I saw his name on the caller ID. I chose not to answer his call, and I am not sure I'll ever call him back.

Weekend Recap

Thursday

I know it isn't really the 'weekend', but it is when mine started. Tequila Red and I went to see United States of Electronica. We danced and danced, and after the show we went upstairs and danced some more. Around 1:30AM I got a call from my friend Matt who ditched the rest of the band, and caught a train to the city from Milwaukee. We went and met him, and then the group of us headed to Estelle's until they closed. At 2AM when we were walking in, I paused and called into the office to tell them I wasn't feeling well and would not be in on Friday. YAY, 3 day weekend!

Friday

the afternoon
Well, Friday around 11AM anyway. Red and I went to breakfast. I called my sister to let her know I skipped work (she was soooo jealous) and I would pick her up and drive out to the burbs for the party. The party was for my grandparents. They have been married for 50 years. That's a long time. Pretty much everyone in my family was there. We had the whole 4th floor of a hotel.

the meeting
This was the first time Tequila would be meeting anyone from my family besides my sister. She was a bit nervous, as anyone would be. We tried to sneak into the hotel unnoticed so we could freshen up a bit before we I introduced her to everyone. That plan was busted as soon as we got to the elevator. My sister hit the button, just as I noticed that the common room was right next door, and every single person in my family was in that room watching the White Sox game. The elevators were as slow as molasses which allowed us to be easily spotted. It was a mad rush. 8 girl cousins, 2 sisters, 3 Aunt's, 2 Grandparents, and 1 Mother were in front of us in a flash. The elevator doors finally opened as I was introducing everyone to my Girlfriend. I tried to hold the elevator, but was promptly hugged by gram's foiling that plan. After what seemed to be an hour, but was only probably less that 8 minutes I said "Alright, we're gonna run this crap up to the room and get settled. We'll be right back down. After a quick pizza dinner, and several loud cheers from the crowd, the older sect suggested that maybe the Loud Crowd tone it down a notch.

the suburban bar
My sister's Rock Star Boyfriend wanted something a little stronger than beer as did I so we headed to the Sports Bar next door.. suggesting to several Uncle's that they might want to follow suit. Holy mass ugly-ness. The hottest girls in the bar were Tequila and my sis. None of the dudes were dressed well either. There were several candidates for worst dressed, until my parents walked in. Now, Concert Mom was dressed like a typical 48yr. Old Suburban Soccer Mom. None of the siblings actually play soccer, but you know the look. Concert Dad on the other hand had on quite a unique outfit. From the feet up he had on sandals, blue plaid pajama pants, a black Frank Thomas T-Shirt.. tucked in of course and a white hat with some golf logo on it. Ding, Ding.. We Have A Winner.

the pool guy
The Rock Star and I were playing a game of pool, I was sucking of course. My Dad came over and said "Hi", I told him he need to play pool while I made sure Concert Mom was nice to my Girlfriend. By nice, I mean she doesn't ask her any inappropriate questions. The Aunts and Uncles started drifting in and I ended up talking to some of them. Meanwhile Tequila went to the bar for a drink and started talking to this guy (with my Uncle who is in red). Shortly before that, this guy had asked my sister if she wanted to go out to his car to smoke 'some good weed, man'. Shortly after he bought Tequila a shot he was hitting on my Mom. Tequila and I called it a bit earlier than the rest of the crowd. I was later told, after we left that this guy was dragged out of the bar by the local police after a small fight with some suburban Tools yelling "But HE didn't call the shot, its his fault man..."

Saturday

Pictures were at 10AM. I wanted a drink, but that wasn't happening. Tequila came down a little later and we got a real nice photo together. After a few speeches from my two Uncles, and my Grandpa's brother Gram's got up and introduced her entire family. This was a very 'Sound of Music" feel to it. Don't judge me, Julie Andrews was a hottie! As our name was called, we stood up. After a nice meal, most of the family headed to the nearest TV to catch as much Notre Dame football as possible. We were supposed to head to the city after dinner, but we decided to stay another night in the hotel. I helped clean up, and headed to bed around midnight.

Sunday

We were going to go on a cruise of the city, on the river. I woke up feeling like I am getting sick, Tequila said the same thing so we decided to just head home. I dropped her off and now am home. I am going to post this and then turn on the Bears game and nap.

Tequila Red was a huge hit with the entire family. Everyone, except for maybe my mom's very Republican from Oklahoma City cousin Johnny.. but I think he liked her.. I mean he invited us out for a visit.., other than that EVERYONE just loves her. Including me.

10.13.2005

Um, Um, Yeah, That's The Ticket

So I stopped over at my Grandparents house for lunch today thinking I might run into some relatives that I won't see at tonight's dinner. No relatives except for the two Grandparents. I was shuffling around their house when my ex-nurse Grandmother asked what was wrong. I tried to brush it off with a quick, "OH, I pulled a muscle in my back/side last night moving some stuff around" thinking that would be it. Nope. The questions started flowing;

G - What were you moving?
Me - furniture
G - What kind of furniture?
Me - um, um, um, just some stuff at my Girlfriends place.
G- Oh, Was it just the two of you?
Me - um, yeah.. Just the two of us. Hey, what's up with checking into the hotel tomorrow?
G- You're all set. We took care of everything. Just give them your name at the front desk. Did you put some heat on your back?
Me - no, I didn't last night.
G - Here, take this heating pad. I'll need it back though. What did you say you were moving?
Me - um, yeah so who is all planning on going to the City with us Saturday night.
G - What are you taking for the pain and swelling? Anything?
Me - I'M FINE OLD LADY, BACK OFF WOULD YA!
G - You should take some Aleve. I have some in the other room, come on with me. (as she grabs my hand like I am still 8, gawd I love this crazy old lady)

Yowser's

This morning on my way into work I noticed the leaves on the trees are changing. As I sit here and type this I can see the same thing out my window. The temperatures have started dropping, fall is finally here. I love this weather, except that I am totally allergic to it.

I pulled a muscle in my back last night. I wasn't moving anything heavy. I didn't fall. I was 'excersising'. I knew as soon as I did it that it was kinda bad. I lied about it, and told the Girlfriend that I was fine.. but in reality I wasn't. I am not.

Tonight is U.S.E. at Schuba's. I have seen them twice before while in Seattle for the Bumbershoot Festival. They are a very energetic live band with a great stage presance. We might hit up a Sierra Navada private party before hand. My friend Mr. Shitty is the reigonal distributer for them and invited me.

I just found out my friend Matt is coming thru town with a band called The King of France tomorrow night. I won't be able to see him again due to a little thing called my Grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. He will be back, with some band or another but a 50th annivarsary only happens once. Plus they are my Grandparents. And they rule.

Check Tequila's page for a special guest apperance in her HNT picture.

0-3

So last night on my way home from work I stopped and grabbed 2 gallons of ice cream (buy 1, get 1 free). After dinner, I took the dessert over to Tequila Red's house so I could meet her 2 kids. I won't pretend that I wasn't a little nervous, I mean who wouldn't be right? Well, everything went just fine. Dylan greeted me with "What's up man". We all watched the end of 'My Name is Earl', then Olivia beat me in 3 straight games of Uno. I mean, beat the crap outta me. Meanwhile Dylan and Tequila played Xbox. A few times I felt like I was in a time warp. About 20 years ago, Concert Dad went through the very same type of meeting with my sister and me. I think we were just a bit younger. I saw myself in those kids last night. I glad I got to meet them.

After leaving there, I stopped by my sister's place to grab some stuff that I am in charge of transporting to my Aunt today. First thing she said to me was: "WOW, You're getting fat!" Nice sister, huh? I responded with "Well, at least I'm not getting ugly like you" kicked her retarded dog and left. Well, I left anyway.

The Real World

Yeah, so I am back at work today. It wouldn't be so bad if I were actually busy. I don't have anything to do. It always seems to happen at this time of the year, we get real slow right around fall, and then.. BOOM super busy from around Thanksgiving until the middle of January.

I spent yesterday cleaning and visiting my dentist. That was going fine until she sat down and started to do her thang. The first thing she says after sticking long metal things in my mouth is "I see you're still grinding your teeth, and it looks like you popped a filling out. We'll have to fix that after the cleaning." Now, I don't think I am grinding my teeth.. I guess maybe at night when I am sleeping.. but whatever, the end result is that after cleaning, she got out her drill and went to work.. It was a pretty painless event, but still.. not what I was expecting yesterday.

Tonight: I am going to meet a 10 and 8 year old. I hope they like me. (thanks for the advise Concert Dad!!)

My boss finally sent out a blanket email about attendance. Just as I was taking a "well, my title doesn't say 'Supervisor' or 'Manager' so I am not going to worry about this anymore"

Well, now that he has done what I asked him to do last week I kinda have to. I will be bringing this title thing up before yearly review time.

10.10.2005

The weekend in brief:

Friday:

After work I purchased a new coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, shower head with massage attachment, car floor mats, and a pair of pants.

Saturday:

Woke up at 10:30Am.. I love sleeping in when I can. I decided that I didn't spend enough money the night before and went back out shopping. I bought a ton of crap, most of which I really don't need. I also bid on a bunch of stuff I found on eBay cheaper.

I picked up a 1/2 slab of ribs from Honey 1 BBQ.. and headed over to Big's place. I ate my ribs.. he drank PBR's as did I. Our friends S&S made it over around 9, and we headed up to the Metro around 10, getting there around 10:40. BTS came on and played a rocking, yet spacey set. A lot of the songs seemed jammed out more than usual. I got home sometime after 3AM.

Sunday:

Slept in until almost noon. I decided that I did want the fish I was undecided about the day before, so I headed back to PetSmart. Funny thing; there is a point on my route to the pet store, that if I turn left I am headed in the direction of Tequila's house. I made that turn yesterday.. totally unconsciously. I didn't even realize it until a block later.

I pretty much lazed around the rest of the day watching NFL football, and MLB baseball all day. After Desperate Housewives I headed oer to Tequila's house, his time for real. We got a couple of drinks and called it. Even though I didn't need to get up early for work today, I did get up early.

Monday:

Happy Holidaze Everyone! Ha.

Headed to the dentist for a quick cleaning, then it's back home to celebrate!

Shots, Strippers, Jesus, and the Weekend

Thanks to the two of you who bothered to vote like I asked. Being a 1 to 1 tie, I decided to go ahead and get the free flu shot. I will get shot on 10/13. Did I mention that I HATE needles? It won't kill me right? Right?

Today is Stripper Lunch Friday. Before the summer, the Coworker and I had a once a month thing where we would go to this seedy, creepy, strip joint for lunch. $10 gets you a good burger, and something to drink. The 'strippers' are wearing sexy bikinis, or bedroom wear. Tops and bottoms fully covered. I guess for and additional $10 or $15 you can get a "private, full friction dance. $15 is topless, and touching is allowed above the waist" I really don't want to come back to the office smelling like a whore. Most of the girls there aren't even close to hot.
UPDATE (11:30AM): Stripper Lunch Friday has been postponed until Tuesday. Boo!

This afternoon I and possibly my coworker are heading to the Life Changers Church. They have a lens that according to my contact there is not working properly. I have had it in my office twice, and can't see any sort of problem with it. I think it is something to do with a power supply, or the camera. The lens works just fine. I hope. Otherwise, I will be swapping out various motors, pot's (no.. don't even go there, this is a church of god for christ's sake) and circuit boards to try to fix the problem.

Things going on this weekend:

Friday:
I need to get my Costco ID replaced, purchase a new coffee maker and return some pants in favor of ones that actually fit. (I increased in the waist by a few inches since the last time I bought pants I guess)

Saturday:
Notre Dame game being watched at Floyd's with Sam Galveston. After that I am off to see Built To Spill at the Metro. Um, this might be trouble.
UPDATE (06:08PM): ND doesn't play this week, we are just meeting at the bar, this IS trouble.

Sunday:
Breakfast. Bears. And a possible dinner at Tequila Red's house with her young'uns.
UPDATE (06:09PM): Dinner at Tequila's, no kids. wink, wink

Monday:
I'll be at home celebrating the Columbus Day Hoilday like every other Red Blooded American. Oh, wait... most people don't have that Holiday off you say? Well. I do.. So HA! I do have to go the the dentist though.

Random Events

Events in a stranger's life.

So an engineer at my roommates work had a small problem one morning not too long ago. I guess he keeps his shoes outside the back door. Well, a baby squirrel decided that his shoes make the perfect bed.

Well this guy figured he didn't want a baby squirrel nesting in his shoes.. personally I wouldn't put them on after the first incident... anyway, this guy goes and builds the squirrel a little house.
A Conversation

So yesterday I call my parents house. I haven spoken to anyone there since before heading to Tequila's family gathering party last weekend. This to me is strange, seeing as how my mom usually wants all the details of something like that. My dad too, I figured would have called me just to see how it went.. but no call. My Brother answers the phone when I call around 4 in the afternoon. I ask him about his fall baseball league, they are 1-5 and he isn't hitting. I tell him he needs to adjust his game to what is being presented and start swinging at pitches, even if they aren't perfect. I ask him if he has a girlfriend. He tells me the girl he liked moved, and he doesn't have any idea where. poor guy. I ask him how school is.. he responds like the typical 10 yr. old.. 'fine, jeez'. Sensing he is becoming bored with my barrage of questions I ask him to put his mother on, to which he defiantly responds "you mean OUR mother". I hear the phone drop to the counter, and him telling mom that I am on the phone, and her response "see if I can just call him back". Being the smartass son that I am, when my brother tells me that, I tell him to tell her "That is just unacceptable". This time he brings the phone with him. I hear a strange man's voice suddenly in the background just as, and this is sooo adorable, he tells our mother "um, he said that was not going to be acceptable..."

the remainder of the phone conversation with my family house went something like this:

Mom: What do you want.
Me: "Nothing, I was just calling to say....
Mom: I am in a meeting with Margaret's college scout, I will have to call you back!"
Me: ... Hi"

What Should Concert Josh Do?

So the big corporation I work for is offering free flu shots this year. Apparently our fearless leader is all worried about some Bird Flu Pandemic hitting the country this winter. Millions could die. I hate getting the flu. I hate shots even more, unless they are of the booze variety. I'll let you good people decide what I should do here. Please leave your vote in the comments. "Get the Shot" or "Get The Flu"

Voting will end tomorrow at 1:30PM CST today. Thanks for your participation.

Everyone Has A Friend Like Sam.

Everyone has a friend like Sam Galveston. I do. I actually have him in my cell phone under that name. He's a good friend, but sometimes he doesn't know when to say when. Last night was no exception. I made it home by 11PM, but I didn't even want to be out last night, let alone out drinking Grey Goose and Tonic's. But I haven't seen Sam in a while. See, he has a new girlfriend, and so do I. He has been busy going to parties in Elkhart, IN where his family lives, and to Notre Dame football games, and whatever else a person like Sam does with his spare time. Meanwhile I have been busy too. I have been to Las Vegas, New Hampshire, worked for my dad, helped stain the deck at my place, and camping with the Girlfriend's family.

Of course we went to Floyd's, where our tab was about 1/2 of what it should have been even with the almost entirely new staff. Big T made sure the new staff knew who Sam and I were, and to apply the Sam Galveston Discount to our tab. I love that place. I hate this hangover.

3. Stupid car fails test.

so my little cars 'Check Engine" light is on. I've known this since returning from the Northeast last month. I know I need to get some routine maintence done in about 6-10,000 miles. I figured as long as everything was running fine I'd just wait until then, probably later this month, to deal with it. Luckily I can stick to my plan since I don't have to pass that test until sometime next April.

At least the Packers lost last night, leaving the Bears all alone in first place. I just love watching Brett Favre not win.

The Great Outdoors

So Saturday I went with Tequila Red to her relative's big Fall Fest Camp Out party. The party took place at her Aunt Kathy's house out in Kouts, IN. Kouts is one of those towns you could drive through, and not even notice you were there.

I was a little nervous, never having met family members of a girlfriend in years. Aunt Kathy was there to greet us as soon as we pulled in.. and my nervousness was immediately gone. Tequila's cool-ass cousin Matt was inside watching TV. We made him put on the ND game.. for the first half anyway.. they CRUSHED Purdue, and we started drinking. We drank tons of beer, and twice as many shots. Cousin Matt was making all sorts of fancy shots.. and I tried every one of them.

We didn't really camp out as much as just plain old passed out. I passed out on chair out by the camp fire and was relocated to a couch in the house.. hours after Tequila did on a different couch. We made campfire breakfast in the morning, and then we headed home. I still need a few hours of sleep... but all in all I had a great time.

I am looking forward to meeting a few more members of her family in the coming weeks. That should be interesteng.

This post kinda sucks, but I don't care... I am still a bit cheesed from the weekend.
